15ct Gold Anchor Locket Victorian

   This is an exquisitely worked small mid Victorian locket in unmarked but tested 15ct  gold. The design consists of an anchor on the front surrounded by ropes which go from the front to the back. The ropes and the border are superbly done in cannetille work, the work of a master craftsman. There is a metal ring inside that would have held the glass. It is on a plated chain which is a layer addition. An anchor was the traditional Victorian symbol for hope.
