18th Century 22ct Gold and Lapis Lazuli Ring
An outstanding highly decorative large ring dating from the 1700’s and probably of European origin. It has been finely worked in unmarked but tested 22 ct gold with two birds either side of the shank and tendrils with leaves and fruit surrounding the stone. The stone has been recently replaced, I don’t know what was there originally but the lapis cabochon suits it so well it looks like it’s always been there. The is some damage on the gold work around the stone, this is very old damage and must have been done when the original stone came out. The ring has also been reshanked sometime in the 20th century in 18 ct gold.
